Ran Out Of Milk? No Problem! DIY Creamy Oat Milk Recipe
You won’t believe how quick and tasty making your own milk can be!
Here’s another fun tip to help you stay inside through quarantine! This recipe will save you money and time from going to the grocery store, plus it only calls for a few simple ingredients — so, no excuses! Keep reading for all the details.
I personally use oat milk in everything! I love the sweet taste and creaminess, it makes a great substitute for almost anything in place of dairy milk (especially in coffee and matcha lattes). It’s also high in fiber and free of common allergens found in dairy and other nut milks. Best of all it’s so easy to make you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of trying it sooner!
C R E A M Y O A T M I L K
1/2 cup plain organic old fashioned oats (oats do not need to be soaked, it will make the milk slimy)
2 pitted dates
1 pinch Himalayan salt
3 cups filtered water
optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract
D I R E C T I O N S
Add water and dates to a high-speed blender and pulse until dates are blended
Next, add in salt, vanilla, 1/2 cup oats and blend for 25-30 seconds until creamy and broken down. *Note: do not over blend the oats, it will cause the milk to become slimy!*
Once the milk is smooth and combined, use a mesh strainer to filter out the milk into an airtight jar
Lastly, date your oat milk and store in the fridge to enjoy freely! Stays fresh for up to 4 days
If you want to get creative, you can also try making flavoured oat milk:
-Strawberry (1 cup washed and halved strawberries + 1 tsp vanilla extract)
-Chocolate (2 tbsp raw cacao powder)
-Turmeric & Cinnamon (1/2 tsp turmeric powder + 1 tsp cinnamon powder)
